Hi ! I moved to Saint Petersburg not so long ago and miss the small cute shops, were you can always find a great gift ! Especially now around Christmas and New Year, it would be great to know some shops, that maybe only locals know about! Something cute, special, individual ! I recently discovered Етажи, were I found some cute shops, something like that. Maybe you can help me! Спасибо!

So, you are looking for off the tourist radar Russian local shops.

Apart from the most popular and oldest shopping center Gostiny Dvor, a must see, there are also other nice local shops to explore in St Petersburg Russia. Too many to mention all of them!

It all lies on what items you're looking for: books, clothes, souvenirs, etc. However, our favorites ones, very popular among locals, are the following ones...

• Kameya - a place for shopping for sweets;
• Off Vintage Shop - a place for vintage clothes;
• Design'Rium - a nice Russian Fashion Boutique;
• Vse Svobodny - the right place for book's lovers;

If you are looking for something unique with a historical value too, then the best place to go is on the Udelnaya Flea Market on Sunday, morning time. That's the place to find several valuable items belonging to the Soviet Times, and not only.

I personally like to accompany our visitors to the Udelnaya Flea Market, if I have time, as it is an interesting spot to go, especially for first time travelers.
