7 best places to see the Northern Lights in Russia

I am planning to visit St. Petersburg in later pàrt of October 2019. Is northern lights visible from there? Thanks.

Thank you for posting on our website.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to see the northern lights in Saint Petersburg.If this is the main reason you are coming here I suggest that you change your destination.

For your information, the best places to see the northern lights in Russia are listed below without any particular order:

- Murmansk
- Kirovsk
- Arkhangelsk
- Petrozavodsk
- Naryan-Mar
- Vorkuta
- Yakutsk

The fabulous Aurora Borealis is a wonderful natural phenomenon that you can admire even in Russia, but only if you reach one of the places I listed above.

Personally speaking, I have been in Murmansk and Petrozavodsk, and during the visit from there I got a chance to see the northern lights.

The best month to experience such an event is from June to August.
